Haim T-shirt: Haim tour/official merchandise Mom jeans: Topshop
I am SO in love with my Haim top. Almost as much as I'm in love with Haim themselves, those girls are so very very cool. Well, when I say in love, I mean in a sort of "OH GOD CAN I PLEASE BE A HAIM SISTER NOW" kind of way.
I went to see Haim in Manchester a couple of weeks ago with some friends - it was the second time we'd all seen them, and my god were we blown away. I swear they just get better and better. Not only are they incredibly talented musicians, they're also genuinely hilarious and very charismatic. Never before have I seen a band who had so much (there's really no other word for it) banter with the crowd, especially bassist Este - who, incidentally, pulls the most fantastic "bass faces" in the business. Google "Este Haim bass face" if you haven't seen this!
If you follow Haim on twitter, you may have noticed them tweeting a photo of the three of them stood infront of an audience at one of their gigs, all flicking V's at the camera - band and fans alike! If not, you can see that photo here. That was the gig we went to! The story behind it is that, on the same night, Los Campesinos were also playing in the venue opposite. Earlier that day, the lead singer of Los Campesinos had taken a photo of himself flicking a V at the fans queuing outside for Haim, and tweeted it. So, in retaliation, Haim tweeted a photo of the whole of their audience, plus themselves, doing the same thing. It was a glorious moment. Not that we - or indeed Haim - really dislike Los Campesinos, it was just all rather hilarious! Even more so for my friends and I, because Los Campesinos actually used to be a part of Cardiff Student Media - they were, apparently, all members of Cardiff Uni's radio station, Xpress! I do a couple of shows on Xpress Radio, and the two friends who I went with are the station manager and the head of entertainment shows. Some of our friends in student media know members of Los Campesinos, so this whole incident was just a bit surreal!
Anyway, I'm babbling. Back to the clothes. I've decided that pairing a band tee with high-waisted "mom" jeans is one of my favourite casual combinations. And it oozes 90s (despite the fact that the band are current), which can only be a good thing! I wore this outfit to visit some relatives in Bolton today, though it's been chilly and breezy outside so I had to wrap up a bit more...
Tartan scarf: Pop Boutique, Manchester Leather jacket: Zara
I couldn't resist following the crowd and buying a tartan scarf... everyone seems to be wearing them at the moment! And, I admit, they've won me over. I think they give a cool edge to an outfit, with a wearable nod to punk - or to the nineties, again! Cher Horowitz, eat your heart out. I actually bought this scarf in Manchester on the same day that I went to see Haim, a coincidence that I didn't notice when I put the outfit together! And, of course, my trusty leather jacket just seemed to fit in so well. I do have other jackets, honestly...

I love high-waisted shorts (mom shorts, haha) and I like how you paired it with that tartan scarf. I've only been to one concert in my life, but the band didn't really chat with the crowd at all, so I can see how an interactive experience would have been more fun.
