new buys! topshop & zara haul

11/01/2014

So, I'm back in Cardiff! Which means there's a city centre full of fantastic shops just a short walk from my door... always oh so tempting. I waited until after I'd handed in some coursework on Friday, then allowed myself a shopping trip as a reward. I wasn't quite prepared to find SO many beautiful things though! I headed straight to Topshop, then onto Zara... but after that I decided I'd better call it quits as I'd already spent more than I intended! Oops. But all of these purchases are things that I know I'll get a lot of wear out of, which makes me feel a lot better! Plus, all of the clothes from Zara were in the sale, so individually they were relatively cheap.

Shirt: Zara

I always love the shirts in Zara, they tend to be so slinky and chic! For some reason, I'm also always drawn to sleeveless shirts, so naturally I picked this one out to try on. I wasn't sure how flattering it would be, since it's fairly loose and has a low, drop-waist style, but I actually liked the shape when I tried it on. I'll need to wear a vest under it or something, since it has a tendency to flap open, but I reckon that could open up some interesting layering possibilities!

Playsuit: Zara

Who can resist a playsuit in a cool pattern? Certainly not me! I love this ethnic ikat pattern. When I found this playsuit, my mind instantly started reeling with different ways I could style it - I think it's fairly safe to say that it'll be worn a lot during spring/summer! It could even be wearable now if paired with tights and the right cover-up. It's also the kind of thing that deserves to be worn with plenty of jewellery -  I'm thinking long necklaces and lots of bracelets!

Dress: Zara

This dress might be my favourite of the day's purchases. It's big, it's baggy, it probably doesn't do a lot for my figure, but it's just SO PRETTY. It's a perfect example of the whole grown-up-boho thing that Zara does so well. I love it. Expect to see it in an outfit post soon.

Shorts: Zara

These little floral shorts were a bargain at just £9.99 - infact, none of the items I bought from Zara cost more than £18, I love the January sales! I tried these on with the blue shirt, and the colours complemented each other so perfectly that I knew I couldn't buy one without the other... that's the best excuse I could come up with, anyway.

Both necklace sets: Topshop

I'd been eyeing up Topshop's gorgeous necklace sets back in December, so when I received a Topshop gift card for Christmas I was fairly certain what I'd be spending it on. After much deliberation, I decided on these two sets. The idea is, you can either wear the necklaces separately, or wear them together, which looks equally great.  I wear these kind of slightly hippy-ish necklaces a lot, so I thought I'd refresh my collection a bit! Buying them in sets mean they tend to be really good value for money, too.

Phew, that's it for this shopping spree! I'm off check that I've actually got some money left in my rather empty looking student bank account....
(Just kidding, of course, I'm okay for now as student loans came in the other day. I just need to make sure I don't spend it all at once!)

  24. I like my clothes to be slightly lose and somewhat slouchy. It gives a laid-back feeling which I love (something like effortless cool?). You've got a great haul going on. The Zara top and dress and if I had the money left to spend, it'd be on something similar.
