Happy 2014!
I can't believe how quickly this year - or last year now! - has gone. It's so scary. 2013 was incredible, I've been lucky enough to have had so many fantastic experiences, and to have shared them with so many amazing people. I'm thinking of putting together a "2013 recap" post to sum up some of those experiences, so watch this space!
Anyway, I had a fairly quiet NYE this year. For the previous three years or so, I've either gone out or gone to house parties, so last night felt like quite a contrast! It was lovely though. I went to see The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug with my parents - we hardly ever have cinema trips together anymore, so it was really nice. The Hobbit was one of my favourite books as a child (okay, okay, it still is), so I've been desperate to see this second instalment of the classic tale! Peter Jackson's interpretation of the story may be very different from the original story, but it's still so good in its own right. Plus, I'm hardly going complain if he decides that Legolas should be in the film...
After the film, we headed home and were back just in time for Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny show - for those of you who don't know, this is basically a silly but brilliant countdown show in which a number of talented musicians perform, and a load of celebrities watch and dance and just generally celebrate! Haim were on this year, so I was very very happy. We had a couple of drinks whilst watching, of course.
Since I was in for a fairly casual night, I didn't think I should dress up too much - although it was still New Year's Eve, so I wanted to wear something nice! I found a middle ground with my Primark disco pants dupes and this slinky H&M blouse, accessorised with a long boho necklace and plenty of bracelets (of course!). I added the beige shirt to keep the look decidedly laid back.
Hope you all had a lovely New Year's, whatever you got up to!
Helen xx
