I always seem to find myself wearing the same couple of lipsticks, so I decided to try out some new shades for Autumn.
The shades I chose are pretty much opposites - a deep, wine red called Divine Wine and a warm, beige nude called Honey Beige. Autumn always makes me think of rich, jewel tones, and warm shades of nude, honey and camel, and I think both of these lipsticks reflect that nicely. They were £6.99 at Boots, which is a bargain in my book!
Though I'm a long-term fan berry toned lipsticks, Divine Wine takes me a bit out of my comfort zone as it's darker than I normally go. I love its rich, red colour though, and I think it makes a great statement for Autumn/Winter. I'd keep the rest of my make-up fairly neutral, as I have here, perhaps with a light sweep of a berry red blusher. It'll also look even more dramatic if, like mine, your skin gets super pale in winter.
Honey Beige is even more of a rarity for me - I've avoided beige shades in the past for fear of looking washed out. Maybelline, however, has got these shades just right, and after reading some articles in favour of mega-nude lipstick recently, I was intrigued. I can't tell you how long I spent deliberating between the 5 shades in Maybelline's Stripped Nudes range; I eventually decided on this one because it's warm and stands out just enough against my skin tone. I think it would be a great accompaniment to the burgundies, rusts and jewel tones of this season's 70s styles, and it leaves a lot of scope for experimenting with eyeshadow shades!
What do you think? Are you sold on beige and wine coloured lipsticks for Autumn?
