Okay, confession time. This denim shirt is ANCIENT, I've had it for about 5 years, but it's still so useful. It's perfect for these changeable autumn days, when a chilly morning can turn into a warm afternoon, or vice versa. I wore this to meet some friends for lunch and a catch up, and when it started to get colder later on I just rolled the sleeves down! Thank goodness denim shirts don't seem to be going out of style any time soon. 

To me, autumn is the perfect season for felt hats (though I do look for excuses to wear mine all year round). As we start bundling ourselves up in layers, not only does throwing on a hat give your head some protection from the elements, I always think it also ties an outfit together nicely. If, like me, you struggle to find hats that fit properly (apparently my head is tiny), then mild autumn days also mean you're less likely to lose your hat in a stormy gust of wind. So many times I've left the house in a hat, thinking the weather was pretty still, only to find I've completely misjudged it and have to spend the rest of the day alternating between which hand struggles to keep it on my head, as each arm starts aching in turn. Alright, I know it's a minor inconvenience really (and I'm prattling on now), but it can be hella annoying. Luckily, on this day there was no sign of a breeze.

This skirt of one of those items that I love but don't wear often enough. I can't get enough of folky, tapestry prints like this, but I'm so used to only wearing high waisted skirts that I find this one a little hard to style. It sits on my hips, creating more of a drop waist silhouette, and meaning when I try to pair it with one of the many crop tops that seem to fill my wardrobe these days, I end up with far more stomach on show than I'm comfortable with! However, it think it goes better with thicker layers like this shirt, and it also looks great with a polo neck jumper, so hopefully I'll get more wear out of it this autumn/winter.
